Update: New Blog Herald Owners Revealed

Well an interesting series of events has happened since I discussed the sale of The Blog Herald. As you might remember, the new owner of the site decided to wait to reveal their identity. They are now known to be Bloggy Network, Ltd. (not Bloggy Network, LLC). The new owners are based in the UK and have stated they are going to run the site separately from the rest of their network, which is a smart move in my opinion. What do I think, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. This blog is one of the premiere sites and will remain as such as long as the new company doesn't try too much too fast.

Bloggy Network, Ltd. has also said that they will keep all of their current writers and is planning on adding more writers to the site in January. There is an interesting discussion/feud going on in the comments section of the post. The feud is between the owners of both blog networks over who owns the copyright to the name Bloggy Network. I have to admit the feud is somewhat justified on behalf of Bloggy Network, LLC since they were in fact the first company in existence and should, therefore, own the copyright on the name. I am not a lawyer so I don't exactly understand the legal issues between the UK and US nor whether Ltd. or LLC makes the name technically different.

The comments section also features the opinions of other well known bloggers showing just how important this issue might be. This case might actually be an interesting one for bloggers to follow since it could end up affecting other disputes over naming rights. If anything further develops with the story I will be sure to post it here.
